Our youth centers are the heart of our mission. They are the physical spaces where our holistic model comes to life, providing a safe haven and a bridge to a brighter future for at-risk youth.
The Veragua Dominican Youth Centre is now open and making a meaningful impact in the community. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we secured the land, established on-site leadership, and created a welcoming space where children can learn, grow, and thrive.
Today, the centre serves 60 children, providing a safe and supportive environment for at-risk Dominican youth and the underserved Haitian population. Our goal is to expand our programs and facilities to serve at least 120 children, ensuring even more young people have access to quality education, mentorship, and opportunities for a brighter future.
As demand for our programs continues to grow, we are raising funds to expand and enhance the centre, purchase educational resources and equipment, improve our facilities, and ensure we can continue meeting the evolving needs of the children and families we serve. Every donation helps us build on this strong foundation and create even greater opportunities for future generations.
In this tourist area, a strong grasp of English provides a crucial bridge for youth to find middle-income jobs and help their families break the cycle of poverty. The lessons learned here have been invaluable as we design and build our next generation of CCN-modeled centers.
Operating out of a local library, we provide free, daily English classes to over 100 students per year. We also organize community service projects, like beach cleanups and making lunches for day laborers, along with fun activities such as visits to local cenotes.
