Our youth centers are the heart of our mission. They are the physical spaces where our holistic model comes to life, providing a safe haven and a bridge to a brighter future for at-risk youth.
We are embarking on an exciting project to build a dedicated youth center in Veragua, Dominican Republic. This new center will be a lifeline for the community, providing a safe and supportive space for at-risk Dominican youth and the underserved Haitian population. With a capacity to serve 120 children, it will be a place of learning, growth, and opportunity.
The groundwork for this center is already complete. We have secured the land, hired our on-site directors, and have the operating funds in place to ensure its long-term success. With the foundation already laid, we are about halfway to our goal. We are now seeking to raise the remaining ~$400,000 USD to complete construction and bring this much-needed space to life.
In this tourist area, a strong grasp of English provides a crucial bridge for youth to find middle-income jobs and help their families break the cycle of poverty. The lessons learned here have been invaluable as we design and build our next generation of CCN-modeled centers.
Operating out of a local library, we provide free, daily English classes to over 100 students per year. We also organize community service projects, like beach cleanups and making lunches for day laborers, along with fun activities such as visits to local cenotes.
